Wichita Falls, Texas- On December 12-16, 2011, Missionary Peggy McKenzie, sponsored by the Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, Dr. Robe rt M. Castle, Pastor, and the Progressive West Texas Missionary District Association, Rev. L. W. Hutchins on, Moder ator, joined 45 other missionaries of the Missioanry Baptist General  Convention of Texas, Dr. G. V. Clark, President, at the Dallas Fort Worth Airport enroute to Belize, Central America to help meet the needs of the Belizean people in several villages (Ontario, Blackman Eddy, United Ville, George Ville, Punta-Gordo, and others).

This effort was led by the Foreign Mission Board of the Missionary Baptist General Convention of Texas under the leadership of Rev. H. E. Debose, Chairman and Rev. A.R. Evans, Executive/Secretary Treasurer.

FOR THREE DAYS, WHILE IN BELIZE, THE MISSIONARY TEAM FOLLOWED A VERY RIGOROUS SCHEDULE:

BREAKFAST was served to the missionary team each morning at 7:30 a.m. in our Convention headquarter hotel, San Ignacio Resort Hotel

BUSES left for Mission Stations at 8:45am for the distribution of food

DISTRIBUTION OF FOOD took place from 10:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m. from two churches, Zion Outreach Baptist Ministries and Ontario Christian Community Church (OC3). These two churches have been supported by the State Convention donors over past several years. We distributed, from these two sites, boxes of food (70 Ibs each) to 700 families over a period of 3 days.

LUNCH was eaten every day at approximately 12:30 p.m.

BUSES left for Prayer Cells at 4:30 p.m.

PRAYER CELL ACTIVITES were conducted from 5:30 p.m. to 6:05 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. There were 3 groups. They went into identified homes and had prayer with families. Each group was led by on of one of our pastors/ministers. Also, designated drivers for the vans had been assigned. There was a Belizean to direct them to the houses within certain villages. (Ontario Village, Blackman Eddy and United Ville Village). They returned to the churches upon completion of their assignments.

WEDNESDAY NIGHT LIVE “YOUTH EXPO” More than 250 youth from various villages, along with youth from churches of the State Convention, came together and worshipped God with their gifts and talents through singing, praying, poetry, skits, praise dancing, puppetry, mime, etc. Brian Acosta, a young 23 year old minister of Ontario Christian Community Church (OC3), delivered a soul stirring and wake-up message to the youth and congregation-“The Scarcity of Stewards” taken from out institute theme. Brian has studied 2 years in the States (USA)

REVIVAL SERVICES were held on Tuesday and Wednesday nights at each church at 7:30 p.m. On Thursday night we all came together at Ontario Christian Community Church (OC3) for the final service at 7:30 p.m. These services were will attended by individuals from villages. Services dismissed at approximately 10:30 p.m. each night.

MANY THANKS go out to Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, Dr. Robert M. Castle, Pastor, and the Progressive West Texas Missionary District Association, Rev. L. W Hutchinson, Moderator, Congregation and individuals for assisting in the sponsorship of Missionary Peggy McKenzie on this awesome Missionary trip to help meet the needs of the Belizean people in several villages of Belize, Central America. (I had this dream from childhood-to go on a missionary trip abroad- and I can’t thank you enough for helping to make this dream a reality.)

THE MISSIONARY TEAM left Belize, Central America on Friday at 5:00 p.m. with much joy in knowing that we had answered the cries of our Belizean brothers and sisters, and had been able to continue the mission of our LORD as outlined in Matthew 28;19-20. Teaching and Preaching had taken place at the churches, prayers, were offered with individual families in the privacy of their homes, souls had been won to Jesus Christ, and 700 families had been fed.

This was a BLESSED CHRISTMAS for the people of Belize through the financial support and giving spirit of the Mount Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, The Progressive West Texas Missionary District Association, and other State Convention Churches over the State of Texas lead by the Missionary Baptist General Convention of Texas.

As a body of CHRISTIAN BELIEVERS, we refuse to become victims of just taking care of our home needs and forgetting about our foreign brothers and sisters in desperate need I pray we will continue in this work and not lose sight of the scripture found in II Samuel 5:2, “..The Lord said to thee, Thou shalt feed my people..” Also, it is written in Proverbs 21:13, “Whoso Steppeth his ears at the cry of the poor, he also shall cry himself, but shall not be heard.”
